Position Summary
The transportation supervisor assists in managing the day-to-day operations of the transportation department and ensures that services are provided in timely, efficient and professional manner.
Essential Duties

Responsibilities
- Lead with a service focus – Set the example for and lead others in focusing on providing excellent service for people served, their families, and all other people who support them; etc.
- Scheduling – Plan routes and schedule drivers to provide the most efficient service to people we serve. Resolve and missed pick-ups and or schedule any additional pick-ups as needed. Serve as primary backup for driving coverage as needed. Review and approve time off and overtime requests; complete, review and sign time sheets in a timely manner ensuring all information submitted is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
- Routing - Partner with program team members to determine pick-up points and time schedules. Respond to driver reports of problem pick-ups such as unsafe conditions or potential hazardous materials. Maintain schedules and records any changes. Communicate any schedule or route changes to and with person served, program staff, accounting, and drivers, as needed.
- Vehicle Maintenance - Schedule routine maintenance, oversees, and arranges for repairs. Maintain all maintenance records on vehicles. Maintain vehicle mileage records. Assist with developing vendors for maintenance work. Maintain adequate level of supplies for vehicles.
- Safety - Ensure that all accident reports are fully completed and sent to the insurance company. Stay current of state laws and certification requirements with respect to vehicle and driver requirements.
- Leadership – Build and maintain a positive, effective work environment by: communicating expectations; involving team members in decisions; providing direction, feedback, and reinforcement; coaching and developing others; ensuring adequate training for team members; convey trust in team member’s competence to do their jobs; inspire people to excel; demonstrate that everyone’s work is important; promote teamwork; value diversity; manage conflict, respond to and resolve grievances investigate complaints or performance concerns; implement disciplinary action as needed and in consultation with HR, etc.).
- Communication – Speak clearly; listen to others; write effectively; establish relationships; act with integrity; establish trust. Maintain vehicle radio and phone information and contracts.
- Hiring – Assist in developing or update job descriptions; develop performance expectations, identify essential functions and knowledge, skills and abilities required; assign work shifts; complete position requisition forms; and ensure compliance with organization processes for interview and selection of team members.
- Terminations – Assist in accepting resignations; and ensure all personnel changes are communicated to Human Resources in a timely fashion to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Required Education, Experience, and other Qualifications
- Understand safety needs and requirements.

- Technology skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, etc.).
- Current, valid driver’s license.
- A driving record that demonstrates safe, legal driving habits.
- Compliance with Rule 11 and MVR background check required.
Preferred Education, Experience, and other Qualifications
- Previous experience working with people with disabilities or other barriers to employment.
- Previous supervisory experience.
Working Conditions and Environment
- Hours of Work: Hours of work are typically daytime, Monday through Friday.
- Travel: Must be able to travel to various locations throughout the day, in the Twin Cities area.
- Work Environment: This job operates in a variety of environments including Rise’s office environment, production floor, and Rise vehicles. Primarily this job operates in an office environment.
- Physical Demands: Able to twist, stoop, bend, reach, pull, push, stand and walk for up to eight hours a day. Able to lift and or carry up to 50-75 pounds.
