Summary/Objective

Provide thorough knowledge of breast exams, equipment, biopsy procedures and policies and procedures in the department, while providing patients with excellent care and the best experience possible. Maintain good working relationships with physicians and all staff in the department.

 Essential Functions

  • Perform      breast ultrasound examinations and breast biopsy procedures according to      policy and protocol
  • Serve      as a resource to the physicians for breast ultrasound
  • Review      scheduled appointments for outside imaging, imaging/physician reports and      additional criteria required by radiologist.
  • Greet      patients with a calm and soothing manner as to help alleviate anxiety      related to their examinations
  • Ensure      patient understands results and recommendations of their examination as      given by the radiologist 
  • Maintain      proper quality control of ultrasound equipment

Supervisory Responsibility

N/A

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Requires walking patients from waiting room into exam room, pushing wheelchair patients as needed. Upper body strength for scanning and to assist patients on the stretcher as necessary. Ability to operate telephone, computer programs and other electronic devices.

Requirements

  

Required Education and Experience 

 ARDMS registered, with a minimum of 1 year experience of breast scanning.

Registered in breast or must complete breast registry within 3 months of employment.

CPR certification within 3 months of employment.
