The Position:
As a Registered Nurse-Circulator PRN at Panorama Eyecare, you will play a pivotal role in our mission to deliver the best eyecare. The Role
The Registered Nurse-Circulator PRN works collaboratively with the entire perioperative professional team to meet the patient's needs, and is accountable for the outcomes resulting from the nursing care provided during the operative or procedure phase of the patient's stay.
Major Responsibilities:
- Consistently demonstrates a high level of customer service in a compassionate, caring manner. Must be available to work 2-3 shifts per month (5 hours minimum)/ Flexible between AM/PM, Monday - Friday
- Must be available to work (1) Summer Holiday Shift – day before or after the Holiday (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day) and (1) Winter Shift – day before or after the holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s).
- Attends Mandatory Staff Meetings and/or reads the meeting minutes
- Ensures that proper techniques and practices are used in according to accepted standards of practice.
- Immediately reports any unusual occurrences to OR Manager or Director, and documents the occurrence in a timely fashion per policy.
- Assists in gathering proper supplies and equipment for surgical procedures. Maintaining a neat and orderly environment.
- Performs circulating duties with efficiency for all specialties of the ASC.
- Positions patient for safety and comfort, adjusts table as needed and prepares operative site.
- Monitors for breaks in aseptic technique.
- Assists with postoperative medications and dressings. Maintains accurate documentation of nursing interventions.
- Assists anesthesia provider with intubation and extubation of the patient.
- Identifies potential or actual risks to patients/others and takes action to eliminate or minimize risks and maximize safety.
- Assists in stocking and ordering of medications in the OR and by anesthesia.
- Handles specimens according to policy and procedure.
- Updates physician preference cards as needed.
- Facilitates efficient flow of patients and surgeries.
- Communicates changes to appropriate personnel.
- Actively pursues continuing education.
- Provides education and support to patients.
- Operates and troubleshoots problems of equipment and machines. Notifies appropriate personnel of equipment/instruments in need of replacement or repair.
- Takes an active role on committees within the department.
- Operates and troubleshoots problems of equipment and machines.
- Assists in the training and orientation of new employees.
- Must have flexibility in the job duties and work schedule.
- Participates in all mandatory staff meetings.

Requirements

- Working knowledge of all ophthalmic surgical and Laser procedures and equipment.
- Demonstrates Age-Specific Competencies for Adult and Pediatric Patients
- Knowledge of anesthetic agents and complications.
- Ability to handle emergency situations required.
- Knowledge and skills required to provide optimal patient care.
- Demonstrates willingness and aptitude for learning new technologies, skills, and ideas in a changing environment.
- Demonstrate ethical behavior in the workplace by exhibiting a high level of character and professional attitude.
- Demonstrate attention to details in all aspects of work.
- Knowledge and implementation of aseptic technique, monitors sterile field, nursing and infection control policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of correct procedures in case of an emergency and locations of emergency call system.
- Understanding of the principles of the sterilization process.
Education/Certifications/Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Current Colorado license.
- Must complete BLS, ACLS and PALS certification within three months of hire.
- Two years of operating room experience required.
- Experience in ophthalmology and outpatient surgery preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time (up to 12 hours per day) in a fast-paced setting.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop and twist without restriction, pain or discomfort.
- Ability to assist patients in turning, rising from recliners and stretchers. We are a no-lift facility.

- Works at The Surgery Center at Denver Eye Surgeons
- This is a PRN Position.
- Compensation for this role will begin at $40-$44 an hour based on experience/certification.
