About the Role

Description

 

Responsible for the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of parish and/or school buildings, equipment, and grounds. Ensures facilities are safe, functional, and well maintained to support the mission and ministries of the Catholic Church. 

Responsibilities:

  • Performs general maintenance, renovation, and repair work for parish, rectory, food pantry and school facilities, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
  • Conducts preventive maintenance and safety inspections, addressing issues promptly.
  • Coordinate or oversee seasonal workers, volunteers, or outside contractors as assigned.
  • Maintains an inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment. This is to be updated at least semi-annually. 
  • Ensures all work areas and parish or school grounds are clean, orderly, and safe for students, staff, and parishioners.
    • Monitors and ensures that buildings comply with safety codes. 
    • Responsible for the cleaning of  the parish Church, offices, gathering space, Gym and public restrooms. 
    • Coordinates with the custodial team for the school and provides additional custodial assistance on an extraordinary basis. 
  • Collaborates with the Pastor, Principal, and office manager on facility needs, safety concerns, and repair priorities.
  • Ex officio member of the ‘parish building committee’.  

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional vocational or trade school training preferred.
  • Minimum three years of experience in building or facility maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to follow established safety procedures and diocesan maintenance guidelines.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items. 
  • Commitment to the values and mission of the Catholic Church.
  • Strong attention to detail, healthy work ethic and respect for safety standards.

  • Pastor and Principal
