Description
Responsible for the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of parish and/or school buildings, equipment, and grounds. Ensures facilities are safe, functional, and well maintained to support the mission and ministries of the Catholic Church.
Responsibilities:
- Performs general maintenance, renovation, and repair work for parish, rectory, food pantry and school facilities, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
- Conducts preventive maintenance and safety inspections, addressing issues promptly.
- Coordinate or oversee seasonal workers, volunteers, or outside contractors as assigned.
- Maintains an inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment. This is to be updated at least semi-annually.
- Ensures all work areas and parish or school grounds are clean, orderly, and safe for students, staff, and parishioners.
- Monitors and ensures that buildings comply with safety codes.
- Responsible for the cleaning of the parish Church, offices, gathering space, Gym and public restrooms.
- Coordinates with the custodial team for the school and provides additional custodial assistance on an extraordinary basis.
- Collaborates with the Pastor, Principal, and office manager on facility needs, safety concerns, and repair priorities.
- Ex officio member of the ‘parish building committee’.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional vocational or trade school training preferred.
- Minimum three years of experience in building or facility maintenance.
- Working knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to follow established safety procedures and diocesan maintenance guidelines.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items.
- Commitment to the values and mission of the Catholic Church.
- Strong attention to detail, healthy work ethic and respect for safety standards.
