Description
General Description of Duties
To produce safe and clean water for Anson County. Employees in this classification perform computerized and manual work. Position is responsible for checking equipment to ensure proper operation; checking chemical levels; and maintaining plant appearance. Operator checks a variety of equipment and tank levels to ensure proper operation of the plant, which includes chemical levels in water; and water treatment equipment and make necessary adjustments. Regulates filter flows; washes filters; sterilizes equipment; cleans basins; fills day tanks. Employee will perform microbiological tests and chemical analysis and other types of tests. Records various reports such as: daily shift checklist, daily performance, and chemical usage reports. Cleans and maintains buildings; maintains grounds around building and related work as directed.
Requirements
Minimum Training and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent. Candidate must be able to physically perform basic life functions of walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and hearing. Candidate must also be able to perform work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Must possess the visual acuity to read gauges, dials, and observe moving parts of machines, and to record and review written records.
Special Requirements
Must obtain North Carolina grade C water treatment operator certificate within 1 year from date of hire. Pre-employment drug screen, background check, and a valid driver’s license are required. All employees are E-Verified.
